Health Safety & Entry Guidelines

Our first priority in all meetings and events is the safety and welfare of our Conference attendees, presenters, exhibitors, partners, vendors, and staff. In order to facilitate the 17th Health Disparities Conference to convene in-person with lower risk to participants, we are encouraging all participants to wear masks, wash their hands frequently, and sanitize between opportunities for handwashing.

Entry Procedures

  • Comply with the XULA Health Disparities Conference Health Pledge
  • Based on the latest advice from health officials, we encourage all participants attending the conference to bring and wear a mask each day. A mask is required for conference entry.
  • We strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask throughout the conference space.

Health Pledge

We ask that you NOT attend if any of the following is true for you or anyone in your party:

  • Within 2-4 weeks before attending the Conference you've been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Monkeypox and / or you are experiencing early signs of Monkeypox (rash, blisters, fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, exhaustion, muscle aches and backache, headache, sore throat, nasal congestion, or cough or any other symptoms associated with monkeypox as identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention);
  • Within 14 days before attending the Conference you have tested positive, or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19;
  • Within 14 days prior to attending the conference, you have traveled to any international territory identified by federal or applicable state or local governments as being subject to travel quarantine advisories due to COVID-19; or
  • Within 48 hours prior to attending the Conference, you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g. a fever of 100.4°F or higher, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking / muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19 identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Additional Information

The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel will have increased hand sanitizer stations on site and their cleaning crews will do frequent cleanings in high touch areas. We are also working with the Sheraton to ensure that adequate space is available in meeting rooms for social distancing.

By attending the Xavier University of Louisiana's 17th Health Disparities Conference, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, Monkeypox, and/or any other communicable disease.
